1Having, as we trust, been brought by divine grace to repent and believe in the 2Lord Jesus Christ and to give up ourselves to him (Eph. 2:8-10), and having been baptized 3upon our profession of faith, in the name of the Father and of the Son and the 4Holy Spirit (Mat. 28:18-20), we do now, relying on His gracious aid, solemnly and joyfully renew 5our covenant with each other (Rom. 12:3-8; Eph. 4:7-10).
6We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Eph. 4:1-6). 7We will walk together in brotherly love (Rom. 12:9-10), as becomes the members of a Christian 8Church, exercise an affectionate care (1 Cor. 12:25) and watchfulness over each other (2 Jn. 1:8; Heb. 13:17) and 9faithfully admonish and entreat one another as occasion may require (Mat. 18:15-20; Col. 3:16; 1 Thes. 5:14). 10We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together (Heb. 10:24-25), nor neglect to pray 11for ourselves and others (Rom. 12:12; 1 Tim. 2:1-8; Jam. 5:16). 12We will endeavor to bring up such as may at any time be under our care, in the 13nurture and admonition of the Lord (Rom. 15:14; Eph. 6:4), and by a pure and loving example to seek 14the salvation of our family and friends (Mat. 28:18-20; 1 Tim. 4:16). 15 We will rejoice at each others’ happiness and endeavor with tenderness and 16sympathy to bear each other’s burdens and sorrows (Rom. 12:15; Gal. 6:1-5; Phil. 2:1; 1 Pet. 3:8).
17We will seek, by Divine aid, to live carefully in the world, denying ungodliness 18and worldly lusts (Titus 2:11-15), and remembering that, as we have been voluntarily buried 19by baptism and raised again from the symbolic grave, so there is on us a 20special obligation now to lead a new and holy life (Rom. 6:1-23). 21We will work together for the continuance of a faithful evangelical ministry in 22this church, as we sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines (Eph. 4:1-16). 23We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the 24expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel 25through all nations (2 Cor. 8-9).
26We will, when we move from this place, as soon as possible, unite with some 27other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the 28principles of God’s Word (Heb. 10:24-25).
29Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, 30the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip us 31with everything good that we may do his will, working in us that which is 32pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever (Heb. 13:20-21). 33May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship 34of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen (2 Cor. 13:14).
